Predictions Gone WRONG…!
•May 19, 2009 • 2 CommentsMy expectation of Congress not coming to power again has gone completely wrong this time. YS Rajasekhar Reddy will rule Andhra Pradesh for 5 more years without any hurdles. He needed 148 seats (out of 294) to win and it’s pretty surprising (suspicious tooo) to see Congress winning in around 157 seats. The hype created for TDP after the elections was erased in no time with Telugu Desam party winning just over 100 seats.
Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam party have lost without any trace. PRP has got hardly 18 seats. Most surprising stuff about PRP is that they’ve almost won all the 3 seats in Vijayawada (lost Vijayawada Central by just 800 votes). Krishna district has seen the highest number of tight finishes with 8 constituencies resulting in 100 to 800 margin of victory.
I’ve lots and lots of concerns over these results…
* Will PRP have life after this defeat??? They should bring an immediate CHANGE within themselves and work for the society in the next 5 years to survive.
* TDP is surely losing it’s color and need an urgent revival from top to bottom.
* And, I don’t have the patience, guts to see this corrupted Congress ruling this state for the next 5 years. So scared of ruthless criminals like: YS Jagan, JC Diwakar Reddy, Bothsa, etc. Now, they have all the freedom and licence in this world to do whatever they want. They can kill their opponents, loot crores of public money, acquire acres of governmet land, stop the devolopment, etc. Ramoji Rao (Eenadu), Radha Krishna (Andhra Jyothi), Kodela Sivaprasad, etc will have to fight for their survival.
* Middle class people like us have always been the victims of these corrupted governments…. Poor people are benefiting a lot from Government schemes. People with power are enjoying their status and increasing their properties. But, we are living a stressful, insecured, financially depreciated lives. I can neither voice out the burning distress nor take this corrupted governance anymore!
2 Hits in 5 Months: TELUGU FILM INDUSTRY
•May 12, 2009 • Leave a CommentFew years back, Telugu Film Industry used to make more money and more films than any other language in India. With over 150 films per year and 10% to 20% of hits, TFI used to be in the news….! But now, 100 films per year with 5% of hits…! What’s happening to the industry that’s been a home place for Mega Producers, Creative Directors, Superstars, etc…???
2009 is turning out to be a worst year for the TFI as it has generated only 2 Hits until now (May 12th) and 3 or 4 OK movies. Mid-Year Review with the Top 10 Movies of 2009 follows:
1. Arundhati (Public: 4/5 and Critics: 4/5)
2. Kick (Public: 3.5/5 and Critics: 3/5)
3. Billa (Public: 2.75/5 and Critics: 2.5/5)
4. Maska (Public: 2.75/5 and Critics: 2.5/5)
5. Aakasamantha (Public: 2.75/5 and Critics: 3/5)
6. Adhineta (Public: 2.75/5 and Critics: 2/5)
7. Siddham (Public: 2.5/5 and Critics: 3/5)
8. Koncham Ishtam KK (Public: 2.5/5 and Critics: 3/5)
9. Manorama (Public: 1.75/5 and Critics: 2.5/5)
10. Oka Oorilo (Public: 1.5/5 and Critics: 3/5)
Though we have Puli, Jr.NTR’s film, Aarya:2, Magadheera, Anjaneyulu, Oye, Aa Okkadu, Eenadu, etc to come in the 2nd half of 2009, the chances of Tollywood recovering are very thin…!
KICK Movie Review : 3.5 / 5
•May 9, 2009 • 1 CommentIgnoring the logic behind the motto of the hero and the police department’s repeated failures, the movie will make you feel ultra-satisfied with this comic offering from director Surender Reddy (Athanokkade, Ashok & Athidi fame). The director has taken a deviation from his usual revenge dramas and made a fun movie which will eventually pay-off. Though the success of the movie hugely depends upon it’s acceptance by the B & C centre audience, the makers can feel safe for sure!
STORY: Kalyan (Raviteja) is an intelligent youngster and seeks great KICK out of anything that he does. He falls in love with Naina (Illeana) and they gets seperated after some time due to some idea-conflicts between one another. Illeana flies Malaysia to marry an energetic cop, Kalyan Krishna (Shyam) and reveals her flashback to him. He inturn lets her know the reason for him to come Malaysia. Kalyan Krishna is in search of Kalyan and Kalyan tries to win back the love from Naina. What happens next is rest of the story…!
PLUS Points: Raviteja’s energetic performance and dialogue delivery (though he looks aged to an extent), Brahmanandam’s superb comic timing in the role of Halwa Raj, Shyam’s screen presence as tough cop, Illeana’s new look (with more flesh finally) might find some takers, hardly any boring moments, strategies by Kalyan for robberies, Ali & Jayprakash Reddy’s comedy in few epsiodes, and the chasing sequences. Director’s pacy screen-play needs a special mention!
DRAWBACKS: Poor songs and worst taking adds to that, inconsistent cinematography, passive expressions from Illeana and many episodes defy logic.
ANALYSIS: Though Raviteja’s new Telugu Cinema KICK seems to have got inspired from movies like: Dhoom, Gentleman, etc, it makes a great watching. The movie has been narrated around comedy and it remains as the film’s strength. The director brings back his loved elements (action episodes) in the 2nd half. The film impresses us with decent cat and mouse game. The director should immediately work on his music sense and even the picturization of those. KICK is worth a watch and will be a winner this summer.
Things to watch out for: Raviteja’s dialogues about the reason behind politicians neglecting the kids’ problems, the whole episode of Raviteja meeting the girl after her operation, and the comic episodes of Raviteja confusing Brahmanandam in Malaysia. Sound-Mixing was great with super clear sounds through out the KICK film.
KICK will surely join the league of genuine Telugu Cinema Box-Office winners for 2009 (very few movies until now: Arundati, King, etc..!)
CHIRU saves Life of a 5 year old Sai Mohan
•May 4, 2009 • Leave a CommentMegastar Chiranjeevi has saved a small boy named: Sai Mohan Dharma Sri’s life with the help of his PRAJA RAJYAM party followers. Sai Mohan is the younger son of Shankar & Leelavati of Anakapalli. The couple’s elder son has already died due to a liver disease and this younger one is also suffering with the same since is birth and needs an urgent operation (30 Lakh rupees). The local leaders have taken this to CHIRU’s notice and he was so moved that he immediately promised them about his helping hand.
Chiranjeevi had spoken to the doctors @ Kamineni hospitals and got down the operation cost from 30 Lakh rupees to 17 Lakhs. Moving further, PRP leaders have raised the funds and donated the required 17 Lakhs and the operation was successful. The boy is safe now and he is seen smiling. The parents of Sai Mohan are raving Megastar on one-side and on the other hand, Chiranjeevi has thanked all his party men for coming together for such a great cause!

MITHRUDU Movie Review – 1.5 / 5
•April 30, 2009 • Leave a CommentSTORY: Aditya (Nandamuri Balakrishna) lives in Malaysia and has hardly any hopes to live. But, after getting close to Indu (Priyamani), he changes his plans to die and marries her. They fly back to India and Aditya comes to know that Indu has another person, Madhu (Deepak) in her life. After getting shocked with this info and getting a bad reception from her family, Aditya starts his researching on Indu running behind him in Malaysia. Rest of the story is mere crap.
ANALYSIS: Whoever has not seen the movie are highly lucky as the movie: MITHRUDU will leave a huge disappointment. Right from the word go, MITHRUDU misses the appeal and Balakrishna’s passive character adds to the woes. He hardly has any dialogues in the 1st half of the film. Though the movie picks up (a bit) after the interval, MITHRUDU again brings back the routine formula and drags the final 30 minutes. Priyamani looks ok and suited for Balakrishna. Balayya’s performance is better not to be spoken. He doesn’t have any scope to perform and his costumes and hair make-up are insane. Even the comedy by Brahmi and Krishna Bagawan doesn’t evoke any laughter.
Technically, the film scores below par with pathetic screen-play and direction by debutant MAHADEV and ordinary music by Manisharma. Photography is ok as a whole and editing should have been crisper.
Note: Don’t know the reason behind MITHRUDU theatres not getting crowds and Balakrishna still acting in movies???? I would rather not watch the movie from next time than finding it difficult to analyze a movie of MITHRUDU’s caliber… (No offense meant…!)
